Pärnu

Pärnu

The most famous seaside resort of the country offers nice white sandy beaches, and the Baltic Sea is as warm here as it can be, thanks to the Pärnu Bay and shallow sea bottom. Small wooden houses, calm leafy streets and numerous spas (including mineral springs and mud baths) create a healing atmosphere for Estonians, Finns and other Nordic nations who need sun and warmth after long and dark winters. The town is so much loved by Estonians that Pärnu is called a Summer Capital of the country since 1996.

Spa

Spa

Spa of Belgium is not the only place in the world that has famous healing mineral springs, however, it provided a generic name for any place of this kind. Its fame was ever growing from as early as 14th century. Besides being just pretty Walloon town, Spa attracts gamblers to its casinos, as well as Formula One fans who come to watch Belgian Grand Prix at nearby Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. As a nice finishing touch, let us not forget that Spa is a hometown of Agatha Christie's fictional character, Hercules Poirot.

Bad Wimpfen

Bad Wimpfen

The area of Bad Wimpfen was settled since the Bronze age. Celts are believed to name the place as well as the river Neckar, on which the town stands. Bad Wimpfen consists of two parts - the older one situates on the coast of the river, and another (also containing the town centre) sits on the hill. As a town Bad Wimpfen is known since 13th century, and turbulent winds of history has blown through it. One of the bloodiest battles of Thirty Year's War took place near town in 1622, thus known as "Battle of Wimpfen". Nowadays, town enjoys peaceful times, being an attractive spa resort and offering its visitors an eye candy of numerous preserved (and beautifully renovated) historical buildings.
